We’re looking for a hands-on Workshop Manager to lead a team of skilled Workshop and Field Service mechanics and drive performance, safety, and service excellence every day.
About the role
As Workshop Manager, you’ll take ownership of a major workshop operation — leading people, planning workloads, and ensuring our fleet is maintained to the highest standards. Working closely with the Branch Manager, you’ll align workshop priorities to customer demand and play a key role in delivering reliable, high-quality equipment.
What you’ll do
- Lead and coach a team of mechanics, and contractors to deliver safe, efficient outcomes
- Plan and prioritise maintenance, servicing, and repairs to maximise fleet availability
- Drive a strong safety-first culture across all workshop activities
- Manage workshop performance, including costs, utilisation, and equipment uptime
- Coordinate field service, breakdown response, and external repairs
- Ensure all equipment meets Coates’ quality standards
What you’ll bring
- Proven leadership experience in a workshop or operational environment
- Mechanical trade qualification (Fitter/Mechanic or equivalent)
- Strong operational mindset with the ability to manage competing priorities
- Solid commercial awareness and focus on cost-effective outcomes
- Commitment to safety, quality, and continuous improvement
