Coates provides professional and confidential counselling services to all employees through our Employee Assistance Provider.

The EAP (Employee Assistance Program) is easily accessible, voluntary and can provide support on a range of personal and work-related issues such as:

Fit for work: I am SUPPORTED to only attend work when I am mentally well, physical fit and wearing the correct PPE to safely perform my role.

Competency: To SAFELY carry out my role I will ensure I am trained or deemed competent to complete the task and have a valid certification or licence, if required.

Leadership: Coates leadership team give me the POWER to stop work if it is unsafe, to speak up, report hazards and eliminate risk.

Assess risk: I COMMIT to stopping & thinking before starting any unfamiliar task and using our Risk Assessment tools to manage & assess risk first.

Manual  handling: I PROMISE to always use the correct techniques and mechanical lifting aids to protect my body and wellbeing.

Vehicles: I COMMIT to being fit to drive & to drive responsibly, for my safety and the safety of others on the road.

Load/Unload: I will ensure I am EQUIPPED to follow load/unload procedures and use physical barriers to keep people safe from moving equipment and use the vehicle winch to protect myself.

Load/Restraint: Coates leadership team give me the POWER to verify load dimensions, weight, restraint equipment and the suitability of the transport vehicle for the safety of our people, trusted partners and customers.

Isolation: I COMMIT to using lock out tag out principles when working on any plant or equipment to prevent harm or injury to myself or work mates.

Working at height: I PROMISE to always wear fall protection & prevention equipment to protect my body from harm or injury.

Injury management

At Coates we have a "Safety First- Zero Harm" culture and believe that all incidents are preventable. However, if an injury does occur we will work with the injured worker and their treating health professional to rehabilitate and return them to work to their fullest potential capacity in the shortest time possible.
Wherever possible, Coates will provide suitable alternative duties to assist the worker's rehabilitation, consistent with the parameters set by their treating health professional.
