Your New Role Awaits
Reporting to the Regional Service Manager, the Field Service Manager is responsible for managing a team of Field Service Mechanics (12) within the NSW South region.
The key to success in the role is having the team work effectively to proactively maintain Coates Hire’s equipment on customer’s sites whilst also responding quickly and efficiently to any breakdowns should they occur. There will also be a number of major projects and events where your role will be to work closely with internal and external stakeholders to provide a seamless service offering to our customers.
- Lead, coach and develop a team of Field Service Fitters, Mechanics and contractors, ensuring alignment with company standards, processes and service expectations.
- Drive performance against key operational KPIs, including equipment uptime, response times, first-time fix rates and service level agreement (SLA) compliance.
- Ensure all team members receive the necessary training, mentoring and ongoing development to maintain technical competency, safety compliance and adherence to company policies and procedures.
- Plan and manage workforce resources to meet customer demand, maintenance schedules and budget requirements while maintaining productivity and efficiency.
- Oversee the safe and effective execution of field repairs and maintenance activities, ensuring all work is completed in accordance with legislative, safety, quality and company standards.
- Foster a customer-focused culture by ensuring technicians provide exceptional service, communicate effectively with customers and deliver timely, practical solutions to complex equipment issues.
- Identify and implement continuous improvement initiatives that enhance service delivery, operational efficiency, technician effectiveness and customer satisfaction.
- Monitor work quality and ensure all repairs completed in the field meet industry best practice, company workmanship standards and safety requirements.
- Promote and maintain a strong safety culture, ensuring compliance with all WHS requirements and actively leading risk management initiatives across the service team.
What You'll Bring to the Role
- Trade qualification in a mechanical, diesel, automotive or related discipline.
- Demonstrated experience leading and managing field service, maintenance or mobile service teams within a technical environment.
- Strong leadership, coaching and people development skills with the ability to build high-performing teams.
- Proven commitment to creating and sustaining a safety-first culture.
- Sound understanding of equipment maintenance, diagnostics and repair practices.
- Strong operational planning and resource management capabilities.
- Excellent customer relationship and stakeholder management skills.
- Ability to prioritise workloads, manage competing demands and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to support and guide technicians through complex technical challenges.
- Continuous improvement mindset focused on driving efficiency, service excellence and business performance.
