Reporting directly to the Group Manager People & Culture (with a dotted line to the Executive General Manager - East), this Senior HR Business Partner will be responsible for Coates’ East Business Unit (NSW & ACT) & Asset Services based between Moorebank and Ingleburn. You will be managing up to 25 stakeholders, including ELT, and overseeing 54 branches in addition to national teams for Asset Services and Power & HVAC. The People Business Partner will provide business-focused, strategic, proactive and operational HR support to enable the effective delivery of the Coates Hire Strategy and Business Plan as well as the HR & Safety Business Plan. You will identify and promote innovation in all aspects of people management and must be able to develop and interpret HR policies, advise on aspects of employment legislation, advise on risk management and coach and support managers in dealing with people management, industrial relations, organisational change, workforce planning and the efficient, effective and flexible utilisation of current and future workforce resources. 
 
You’ll enjoy variety in your role including:
•    Partnering with senior leaders to implement the people plans for the East business unit.
•    Lead the implementation of various national initiatives - lead projects as required.
•    Providing advice to stakeholders on relevant HR issues, including policies and practices, procedures, legislation, and workplace related issues.
•    Ensuring continual development of employees through the performance development process.
•    Monitoring organisational legislative compliance in relation to workplace practices.
•    Provide fair and consistent management of grievances and disciplinary investigations as required.
 
What you’ll bring to the role:
This role is challenging! You will have many competing priorities, but the workload is varied and bustling. 
We anticipate you will . .
.
•    Degree qualifications in HR or a similar field.
•    Significant experience (10+ years) as a Human Resources generalist and / or business partner.
•    Significant experience in industrial relations with a sound knowledge of industrial and employee relations theory, principles, policies and practices. 
•    Strong stakeholder management and influencing experience.
•    Managed challenging employee relation situations and as such, have excellent knowledge of employment legislation and ability to interpret awards and agreements.
•    An advocate of staff development at all levels.
•    Champion Coates’ Safety-First culture.
•    Worked in a matrix style organisation, taking direction from several executives.
