About the Role

The Accounts Receivable Team Leader plays a critical role in overseeing the collection, administrative and risk management activities within the Accounts Receivable – Collections team. Reporting to the National Credit Manager, you will lead the execution of collection processes, drive cash flow optimisation and manage risk, while ensuring full adherence to company policies and procedures.

You will build and maintain strong customer relationships, contribute directly to the company's financial health, and oversee the day-to-day operations of the team. In this leadership role, you will provide guidance, motivation and support to your team, ensure performance against key targets, and foster a culture of continuous improvement.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end collection process, leading the team to minimise risk and bad debt while maximising cash flow
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with company and credit policies
  • Foster a high-performance culture through regular performance and development reviews, and by providing training and coaching to the team
  • Build strong relationships with stakeholders and customers, and manage the resolution of disputes in a professional and timely manner
  • Partner with the Coates Management Group (CMG) to address business challenges and ensure alignment with company objectives
  • Support the National Credit Manager with recommendations on doubtful debt provisioning and write-offs
  • Maintain the smooth running of credit operations, ensuring minimal disruption to business-as-usual activities
  • Champion a safety-first culture, embedding safe practices into everyday ways of working

What You'll Bring to the Role

  • Tertiary qualification in Finance or a related field (e.g. Certificate IV, CCE, or Diploma in Credit Management)
  • 6–8 years' experience in Accounts Receivable and Credit Management, including at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory capacity
  • Solid understanding of credit risk, collection techniques and relevant legislation
  • Proven ability to lead and develop teams, applying appropriate leadership styles to build capability and drive engagement
  • Strong problem-solving skills with a focus on delivering results and continuous improvement
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with stakeholders at all levels, from customers to senior management
  • Sound knowledge of accounting principles and the order-to-cash process
  • A continuous improvement mindset
