Title: National Credit Manager
About the Role
The National Credit Manager is a critical leadership role responsible for overseeing all aspects of Credit Risk, Billing, and Debt Collection. You will drive strategy and operational excellence to minimise risk, optimise cash flow, and support Coates’ financial performance.
Leading a high-performing team, you will coach, mentor, and empower credit professionals while ensuring alignment to our policies, procedures, and broader organisational goals.
You’ll enjoy variety in your role including:
- Champion and embed Coates’ Safety-First culture across teams and customer interactions
- Lead the end-to-end credit function, including billing, collections, credit risk, and administration
- Drive cash flow optimisation while minimising bad debt and fraud risk
- Lead, develop, and engage a large dispersed team, ensuring strong performance and capability uplift
- Oversee policy governance, including annual reviews and continuous improvement initiatives
- Build strong relationships with CMG, ELT, BU leaders, and key customers to resolve disputes and influence positive financial outcomes
- Provide insights and reporting to senior stakeholders on performance, risk exposure, and cash flow
- Ensure compliance with relevant legislation and internal standards
- Champion digitisation, automation, and technology improvements within the credit function
- Support resource planning, succession, and cross-functional capability to reduce single-point dependency
What you’ll bring to the role
You are a seasoned credit leader who combines strategic thinking with strong operational execution. You are confident influencing senior stakeholders and are passionate about developing people and driving results.
You will bring:
- Extensive experience leading credit/finance functions in a large corporate environment
- Proven ability to lead and develop high-performing teams
- Strong knowledge of credit risk, collections strategies, and order-to-cash processes
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and influencing skills
- A proactive approach to continuous improvement and innovation
- Tertiary qualification or formal certification in Credit Management (Cert IV or Diploma)
- 8–10 years’ credit experience, including 3–5 years in senior leadership roles
- Strong understanding of relevant Federal and State legislation
- Solid grounding in accounting principles and financial processes
