We’re seeking a commercially focused legal professional to provide strategic and practical advice across all business units, ensuring compliance and protection of rights in day-to-day operations. A key part of the role involves independently managing and resolving disputes—including debt recovery, insurance claims, and general commercial matters whilst also minimising external legal spend and business disruption. You’ll also lead compliance efforts, particularly in privacy and support broader governance and corporate policy initiatives.
Whilst the role has a focus on disputes, you’ll also enjoy variety in your role including:
- Provide expert legal advice across all business units to manage legal and commercial risk.
- Drafting and negotiation of both revenue and supply contracts, dealing with sophisticated customers and suppliers.
- Compliance lead, overseeing privacy law obligations, delivering internal training, and managing broader governance and corporate policy including business continuity matters.
- Collaborate with stakeholders including executives, statutory bodies, government agencies, and external counsel to ensure effective legal and regulatory outcomes.

What you’ll bring to the role
- Legally qualified with a current practising certificate
- 5+ years' post-qualification experience
- A growth mindset, open, friendly and approachable with a can-do attitude.
- Demonstrated success managing high-value matters and resolving complex disputes under pressure
- Strong experience drafting and negotiating commercial contracts
- A proven strategic and commercially focused approach to supporting Coates achieve optimal legal outcomes in a dynamic business environment
- An enthusiasm for driving legal efficiencies and improving processes for better business outcomes
