As our HSEQ Safety Business Partner for Queensland and Northern Territory, you’ll work closely with leaders across the business to influence, coach and empower them to truly own Health and Safety outcomes. Reporting to the National Manager – Health and Safety, this role partners with Business Units across Queensland and Northern Territory to provide trusted Health and Safety leadership, advice and support.
Your day will include:
- Partnering with leaders to embed positive safety behaviours and accountability
- Championing and promoting Coates’ uncompromising Safety‑First culture
- Driving continual improvement of HSE Management Systems and performance
- Supporting incident, hazard and non‑conformance management along with ICAM investigations
- Conducting internal reviews associated with Coates Critical Risk requirements and supporting internal/ external audits to relevant ISO standards
- Monitoring and analysing safety performance metrics to identify trends and opportunities
- Supporting regulatory reporting and liaising with external authorities
- Visiting branches across the region on a regular basis to provide on‑the‑ground coaching and safety support
- Acting as a subject matter expert and change ambassador across the business

What you’ll bring to the role
To succeed in this role, you’ll bring a strong mix of technical HSEQ expertise and the ability to influence and engage at all levels.
You’ll have:
- Proven experience in a similar Health and Safety Business Partner or advisory role
- Strong working knowledge of WHS legislation, ISO standards and integrated management systems
- Experience driving safety culture change and lead‑based safety initiatives
- Confidence investigating incidents and recommending practical, sustainable solutions
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to educate, coach and challenge leaders constructively
- High organisation, planning and problem‑solving capability
- Willingness to travel regularly and work closely with operational teams
Qualifications such as a diploma or degree in WHS, Environment or Quality (or similar), Cert IV in Training & Assessment, risk management or audit qualifications are highly regarded.
