This is a unique opportunity for an experienced mechanic who thrives working independently, solving problems in the field, and supporting critical operations across Western Australia's Goldfields.

 

Based at our Kalgoorlie branch, you'll be trusted to work autonomously across mine sites and remote customer locations, maintaining and repairing a diverse fleet of equipment. You'll become the person customers rely on to keep essential pumping and power equipment operating safely and efficiently.

  • Attractive hourly rates plus overtime penalty rates
  • Permanent full-time position
  • Monday to Friday roster with a 7am start

 

As a Coates Field Service Mechanic, you'll be responsible for the repair, maintenance and servicing of hire equipment across customer sites throughout the Goldfields region. Your duties will include:

 

  • Safely performing preventative maintenance, servicing and equipment repairs.
  • Building trust and delivering exceptional service to customers on site
  • Primarily working on diesel-driven pumps and pumping systems.
  • Work on generators, lighting plants, earthmoving equipment and EWPs as required 
  • Managing spare parts inventory to ensure timely and efficient site repairs
  • Maintaining high safety standards while working across multiple customer and mine sites

 

What You'll Bring

 

You're a mechanical problem solver who enjoys working independently, building strong customer relationships and taking ownership of jobs in the field. Ideally, you'll have:

 

  • A mechanical trade qualification (Diesel Mechanic, Heavy Vehicle Mechanic, Industrial Plant Mechanic or similar)
  • Experience servicing, maintaining and repairing diesel-driven pumps and pumping systems
  • Strong fault-finding, diagnostic and troubleshooting skills
  • Experience working with diesel and petrol engines, hydraulics, pneumatics and electrical systems
  • A current Australian driver's licence (MR or HR highly desirable)
  • The confidence and initiative to work independently and make sound decisions in remote field-based environments
  • Strong communication skills and a customer-focused approach
  • A willingness to travel throughout the Goldfields and work away from home when required
  • Forklift and EWP licences (advantageous)
  • A strong commitment to safety and quality work
