At Coates, contracts are critical to our success — ensuring projects are delivered safely, efficiently, and profitably. As a Contracts Administrator, you’ll play a key role in supporting our teams across formal tenders, contract negotiation, administration, invoicing, budgeting, and insurance — managing the full contract lifecycle from negotiation to execution and close out. Your work ensures compliance, protects Coates’ interests, and adds real value to our projects and customers.

This is a role with variety, exposure to multiple business areas, and opportunities to grow your skills while making a tangible impact on project outcomes.

What you’ll do

  • Support contract negotiation and administration for customers, subcontractors, and subconsultants
  • Assist with invoicing, payment reconciliation, budgeting, and dispute management
  • Collaborate with Sales, Engineering, Project Managers, Branches, and Install teams to maximise value to Coates
  • Administer subcontractor and subconsultant agreements, ensuring legal and contractual compliance
  • Assist with formal tenders and liaise with Coates Legal and Finance teams
  • Maintain accurate records in Coates systems (including Procore) and ensure stakeholders have the information they need
  • Champion Coates’ Safety-First culture and comply with company policies and procedures

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Tertiary qualification (or working toward) in Quantity Surveying, Project Management, Construction Management, or similar
  • Around 1–3 years’ experience in contracts administration, quantity surveying, accounting or similar, ideally within construction, engineering or building industries
  • Excellent organisational, time management, and prioritisation skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy
  • Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at all levels

What you’ll get in return

We provide our team with a wide range of perks and benefits, including:

  • Development and career progression pathways
  • Access to our employee discounts, benefits and wellbeing program
  • Purchased additional leave program
  • Novated leasing and salary sacrifice
  • 12 weeks Paid Parental Leave in addition to government parental leave scheme
  • Volunteering opportunities through the Coates Foundation
