Title: Plant Mechanic

- Above award hourly rates + overtime penalty rates
- Monday to Friday roster with 7.6 hours worked between 7:00am and 5:00pm
- Permanent full-time position

Based at the Coates Cambridge branch, you’ll play a key role in keeping our hire fleet safe, reliable and ready for customers. This is a hands-on mechanical role suited to someone who enjoys variety, teamwork and taking pride in maintaining high-performing equipment.
What you’ll be doing day to day
Your typical day will focus on:
- Performing preventative maintenance, servicing and overhauls on a wide range of hire equipment
- Diagnosing and repairing mechanical faults efficiently and safely
- Completing and maintaining accurate service and repair records
- Working proactively to minimise operational downtime
- Ensuring all work complies with Coates safety and quality standards
- Close collaboration with operations, service and customer-facing teams to support equipment availability and a high level of customer satisfaction

What you’ll bring to the role
- Relevant trade qualifications ([e.g. Mechanical, Diesel, Plant Mechanic])
- Experience with:
- Petrol and diesel engines
- Hydraulics and pneumatics
- Basic electrical fault finding
- Current Driver’s Licence (MR or HR preferred)
- Forklift and EWP tickets (beneficial, not essential)
- Strong troubleshooting, diagnostic and preventative maintenance skills
- A safety-first mindset and a commitment to quality work
