Reporting directly to the Executive General Manager, the Asset Services Manager leads a senior team of Regional Service Managers, Fleet Deployment, and Administration professionals across Victoria, Tasmania, and South Australia.
In this strategic leadership position, you will be accountable for fleet performance, workshop operations, and asset lifecycle optimisation across a large and diverse portfolio. You will drive operational excellence, ensuring our assets are safe, reliable, and delivering the highest return on investment.
You’ll enjoy variety in your role including:
- Champion a Safety‑First culture across workshops, field service, and operational teams
- Lead and uplift multi‑site workshop performance, ensuring consistency in repair quality, service standards, and turnaround times
- Develop multi‑year hire fleet and workshop investment plans, guiding strategic asset decisions
- Drive fleet optimisation through utilisation monitoring, redeployment strategy, and demand forecasting
- Oversee maintenance planning, technical service standards, and compliance with Coates’ asset management framework
- Manage repair, maintenance and workshop budgets
- Strengthen supplier performance and service-level delivery
- Lead, coach and develop a high‑performing team to drive continuous improvement across all fleet and service operations

What you’ll bring to the role
- Proven senior leadership experience within a hire fleet, or mobile assets environment i.e., as a Head of Fleet, General Manager – Fleet, or Fleet Operations Manager level
- Deep understanding of hire fleet lifecycle management, asset planning, and utilisation optimisation in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong background in workshop operations, mechanical service management, or heavy equipment maintenance
- Strong commercial capability, specifically investment business cases and ROI analysis for hire fleet applications
- Ability to influence and be effective in leading large operational teams across multiple regions, from a centralised function
- Experience within equipment hire, rental, logistics, construction, or asset‑intensive industries is highly regarded
- Commitment to safety leadership and continuous improvement

To be successful in this senior leadership position, candidates will need to demonstrate experience, commercial acumen, and leadership capabilities required to manage a large and complex fleet portfolio, from investment decisions through the asset life cycle.
