Based out of our Ballina branch, with regular travel across the region and Mackay, you’ll be reporting directly to the Regional Sales Manager.

Each day will include managing and developing relationships with a portfolio of small, medium, and large construction and civil customers, ensuring positive outcomes for clients while supporting Coates' growth.

In this role you will: 

  • Manage a portfolio of customers across the full account relationship, including onboarding, day-to-day service, retention, account development and growth.
  • Become the primary commercial contact for your customers and build trusted, long-term relationships with key stakeholders.
  • Map and engage stakeholders across customer organisations to understand their operations, priorities and future requirements.
  • Develop and maintain account plans that identify customer needs, risks, opportunities and agreed actions.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date CRM records, including customer contacts, account plans, activities, opportunities, quotes, forecasts and next steps.
  • Use CRM and customer data to plan activity, monitor performance, identify opportunities and ensure follow-up commitments are completed.
  • Work closely with branch, operations, logistics, service and other internal teams to coordinate customer requirements, resolve issues and deliver on commitments.
  • Act as the customer advocate within Coates while ensuring solutions are practical, commercially sound and operationally achievable.
  • Proactively manage customer issues, coordinate internal resolution and communicate clearly with customers through to completion.
  • Increase customer awareness and understanding of Coates' equipment, services and solutions.
  • Negotiate outcomes that deliver value for customers and support sustainable, profitable growth for Coates.

What you’ll bring to the role

  • Experience managing B2B customer relationships, accounts or service portfolios, ideally in construction, civil, manufacturing, government or a related industry.
  • Experience in account management, customer success, service coordination, B2B sales or a similar commercial role.
  • Confidence using CRM systems and a disciplined approach to maintaining accurate customer and opportunity data.
  • Strong organisation, follow-up and accountability, with the ability to manage multiple customers and priorities.
  • The ability to build relationships with stakeholders and coordinate effectively across internal teams.
  • Proven negotiation, influencing and issue-resolution skills.
  • The ability to interpret and analyse data to formulate practical account strategies and actions.
  • A self-starter mindset and the commercial focus to balance customer needs with operational capacity and business objectives.
  • A genuine commitment to delivering reliable service and positive customer outcomes.
